Dr. Steven Katz has lived every professional’s nightmare of seeing a thriving practice decimated by a series of serious life setbacks, including two years of disability. Yet, by developing the same strategies he teaches practices, and implementing solid systems, he developed a very productive, well-respected and award-winning dental practice, Smiles On Broadway. As a successful Coach of growing practices, he has now worked with over 160 practices and those practices have seen their revenue increase by over $300 million during that time.
He is a graduate of Columbia College, with a degree in Business and Finance, and the Washington University School of Dental Medicine. After completing an Oral Surgery Program at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, he completed a two-year GPR at North Shore University Hospital, where he continued as a member of the attending staff for 35 years. He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow in the International College of Dentists. He has been active in the AACD and the ICOI.
Dr Katz has served as an on-air Dental Consultant for Fox News in New York (Channel 5), and he was the Team Dentist for the New York Jets. His dental practice, Smiles on Broadway Dental Care, was an award -winning, fee-for-service, comprehensive care practice. He was the founder of Smile Potential, a very successful Dental Practice Growth Coaching company on Long Island with an innovative and unique multiple-coach approach. He left that company in December of 2024 to form his present company, Dental Excellence Advisory, a practice growth advisory and coaching company focused on practice growth through improved clinical excellence and an understanding of the strategies needed to help influence dental patients in making better decisions about their own dental health.
In June 2014 Dr. Katz published his widely acclaimed first book, “They Didn’t Teach Us THAT In Dental School”. During 2015 Dr. Katz was also named “The Best New Speaker in Dentistry”. Dr. Katz has delivered over 300 presentations to over 50,000 professionals, and members of their teams. He has also presented corporate career development programs for the sales teams of Henry Schein and CareCredit.
Dr. Katz lives in Jericho, NY with his wife of 45 years, Regina. He has three wonderful daughters, and three beautiful grandchildren. He is passionate about playing golf, personal training, and he has recently returned to competitive rowing 50 years since he first did it in college. Dr Katz is also a Certified Personal Trainer.
