Dr Katz has delivered over 300 presentations to over 50,000 dentists and dental professionals. In 2015 he won the award as “Best New Speaker in Dentistry”. Prior to that he had been voted the “Speaker of the Year” for the Dental Speaking and Consulting Network (SCN). His presentations draw on his diverse 40-year career in dentistry, in which he has led an incredibly successful comprehensive care practice, a long-time instructor and attending at North Shore University Hospital, served as the Team Dentist for the New York Jets Football team, an “on-air” Dental Consultant for a popular New York morning television news network, and over 20 years in coaching doctors and their teams for greater success. The adjectives that are commonly used to describe his programs are, “genuine”, “wealth of knowledge”, “relatable”, “compassionate”, “insightful”, “entertaining”, “funny” and “motivating".
Dr Katz adheres to the belief that to lead a “full” life, one should, on a daily basis, learn something, help others, and exhaust the full range of emotion from tears to laughter. Each of his presentations is designed to satisfy these goals.
Based on Dr Katz’s acclaimed book, published in 2014, this presentation covers a wide range of concepts for practice growth. The success of any practice is dependent on clarity in deciding the future direction of the practice. It requires development of a team with the shared values of the doctors. There are techniques in team development to ensure that the team will become motivated and that will eliminate the drama that adds stress to any practice. Systems development can simplify the operation of the practice and eliminate stressors that can drag a practice down. When there is a clear vision, a perception of leadership, team empowerment and sound systems, patients have a higher perceived value of the care and practices flourish.
Dentistry and the people we care for are very different than they used to be. Patients now come to us because they understand that we can truly make a difference in their lives. We must understand that our purpose is greater than fixing teeth. When patients have a higher perceived value of what we can do for them they are more receptive to considering cosmetic, implant, and comprehensive care. This presentation will review the total patient experience beginning with the initial phone call and initial visit. Practice growth and success is dependent on creating a relationship, developing understanding, and creating a partnership with the patient in their care. When this occurs patients eagerly accept more of the care they need, and they refer others to our offices.

This presentation will highlight the most sure-fire ways to increase treatment acceptance of restorative and periodontal treatment in any dental practice. This is the Fast Track for Practice Growth. Many practices fail to create clarity or uniformity in their diagnostic criteria. This creates variance in how each clinician in the practice views restorative and periodontal care opportunities, and it results in under diagnosis and patient confusion. In order to present treatment, it must first be diagnosed. The creation of uniform criteria exposes many more opportunities to recommend treatment. Artificial Intelligence can now also assist and improve this dynamic. When combined with improved treatment presentation skills and patient-centric, benefit-oriented verbal skills, treatment acceptance markedly increases. Practices grow and “raving fan” patients refer their family, friends and neighbors. This presentation draws on the experience that Dr Katz has had in coaching clinicians for 20 years. It points out the fact that practice growth is less dependent on “Practice Management” and much more dependent on increased and improved clinical performance...rendering care and ensuring that patients leave your practice in a better condition than when they arrived.

Every doctor and dental team member possesses the incredible Power to change lives through Dentistry. The determining factor in what you change, and for whom, is a product of your connections to others, having a vision, and your experiences.
The sources of this, often overlooked, power come from many different people in our lives, many who have nothing to do with the practice of dentistry. No one teaches dentists and their teams about the amazing potential they have to change lives, so many in our profession feel stuck in a job. We have an alternative to enjoy, appreciate, and be fulfilled by our work. As dental professionals we must embrace the opportunity that we have to change people’s lives, more than just fixing their teeth. We must believe that we can affect people in many ways, far beyond the scope of our dental treatment. In life we are faced with obstacles. We must enable these experiences to make us better, and not bitter.
By adopting the belief that we have the power to make a difference, we can help patients improve their lives in many ways. The result is that dentistry becomes more meaningful for every member of the team. The fulfillment becomes greater and practices flourish. Are you up for the challenge?
You’ve Got the Power!!!
